Seattle Washington - Nintendo announced a launch date today for the highly anticipated "Groove Sander" game for the Wii. Groove Sander allows you to recreate sanding skeleton runners by moving the Wii Controller back and forth repetitively for up to 4 hours. The game also includes a packet of black shit that will get all over your clothes and won't wash out, as well as acetone to burn your skin and pre-mixed concrete for those hard to scratch runners.
St. Moritz, Switzerland - Eric Bernotas of the USA was in position to win the gold over Swiss Superstar Greghor Staehli at the 2007 Skeleton World Championships, when he realized his shoelaces were untied prior to his fourth and final run. Bernotas continued to the start line undeterred only to trip and pop the groove seconds later. Despite the unfortunate event, Eric was able to overcome the odds and take second place. The offending shoe lace will be subject to USBSF disciplinary procedures, and will have a Board hearing later this week.
Cesana, Italy - Zach Lund of the United States won the World Cup in Cesana this week, with another brilliant performance. At the conclusion of the race, Lund had this to say... "I knew going into the race that it was going to be a fight. I was lucky enough to come out a hair on top.” Congratulations to Zach, who needs all the hair on top he can get.
Sebastian Haupt and Marion Trott were victorious in Altenberg this weekend at the 2007 Junior World Championships. The rank for the rest of the field was determined by who spent the least amount of time in the hospital. American John Daly finished in 10th after a barrage of medical tests, while Matt Antoine was released after an overnight stay. The whereabouts of Matt Revelli, 17th, are still unknown. In the women's race, Annie O Shea placed 5th, while Cassie Revelli ended in 11th. Leah Ford rounded out the field with a 14th place finish. Tantalizing close to the podium was the Czech team, just 11 seconds off the pace.
Moscow, Russia - The highly successful 'Russian Rocket' has released the North American edition of his popular Speed Training DVD on Amazon.com. You can sing along to hits such as "Back in the USSR" and "Iron-Curtain Man" while you sweat away tenths-of-a-second. Volume 2 will feature driving secrets, as soon as the russians figure that part out.
